Does VG248 support the codec G729?

Hello Guys

I have a question. I´m using a VG248 for some analog phones, they are registering in the CUCM and they use SCCP Device Protocol.

Does VG248 support the codec G729?

How to check if this codec is used for Device Pool in the VG248?

Hi

Yes, it does support G729.

G729 will be negotiated if a call is made from this device, to a device in a different region. Regions are assigned to a device pool, so typically you may have:

Device Pool Office A - Set to Region A

Device Pool Office B - Set to Region B

So a call from Office A to OFfice B would default to G729. Within a region, it will default to G711 for better quality.

YOu can also override the default inter/intra region codec from the codecs config page in CUCM.
