Firmware update for Cisco IP Phone 7942

Hi,

We need to update the firmware on our Cisco IP Phone 7942. What are the steps to make this happen?

I suggest reading the release notes before doing an upgrade.  Some firmware upgrades can't be done without going to an earlier firmware release first.  Then going to the latest.  I have been burned by not reading the release notes and the phones were stuck at upgrading firmware... Not good.

Do you have CUCM or CME or another call control?

If CUCM the easiest way is to install either specific device pack or the firmware file on the TFTP server and make it the device default, then reboot the phones.
