Hi,
My Customer has 8851 phones for their environment. They have a Standard image for Wallpaper for all phones so that has been installed without any issues. But now for a specific Department they want a seperate Background Image but that Image should not be available to any other department. Does anyone know how to achieve that?
I understand there is a "Background Image" Under 8851's "Product Specific Configuration Layout" but how to exactly use it? I have tried few ways but was not successful. if anyone can help me on this then that'll be great?
Regards,
Vishal

Configure a separate Common Phone Profile for them and set the image there, all you need is the name of the image (image.png) and uncheck "Enable End User Access to Phone Background Image Setting"
The rest of the required config is the same as if you were going to do this manually, set the images in the right directory with the proper format so they can be downloaded by the phone.

No, phones are hard coded to look into their specific TFTP directory, that does not change with this config. You still need to put the images in the proper directory for 88XX and format them as required.

Thanks Jaime, I will give this a try tomorrow but just one query though. So, you are saying I should upload for e.g. abc.png on TFTP root directory and just specify the name in Background image?
I will probably understand it better when I will take a look at Common profile tomorrow.
I will let you know how it goes. Thanks

Okay, so that means I will have to put the Thumbnail and full image under "Desktops/800x420x24" patch and then also mention those file names under List.xml as well?

Hi Jaime,
I just now tried changing it using Common Profile and it worked like a charm. Thanks a lot for guiding in right direction. The only challenge with this is that users cannot have any other Wallpaper as the setting is disabled.. And if I enable it and they change the background, then it's gone.
Thanks for your help.

That's how it works, if you choose to set it via CUCM, then you have to take that ability from users, but if you don't, then you cannot set it via CUCM.
