ICT between MD110 BC12 and CMv7.1

Hi,

I'm testing an IP connection between an MD112 BC12 and a CMv7.1(2a).

As the MD has no SIP implemented, we're trying H.323.

But the only non-gatekeeper controlled option that I can see in the CM is the ICT which I think is an H.323 trunk a little bit modified with options that only CM clusters can understand.

The point is that I'm having issues with the calls using the trunk (sometimes one way audio, sometimes no audio at all, calls disconnected and so on) and my question is: is this scenario supposed to work?

I've been checking the compatibility portal but I can see just QSIG documents and SIP with MX-ONE, which makes me feel uneasy :-)

Has anyone tested the scenario I'm proposing? If so, is there anything I should take into account?

Thanks in advance,

Carmen

I am not familiar with the MD110 BC12 or the MD112 BC12. Looks like these are Aastra boxes. In the interoperability portal Cisco only shows SIP integration options (which you already knew). What this means is that Cisco hasn't tested interoperability using H.323. This doesn't mean you can't get basic call functions to work.

First off, you shouldn't use an Intercluster Trunk (ICT) for this integration. As you have already discovered, ICT is reserved to connect two Cisco Unified Communications Manager systems. What you will need to do is create a H.323 gateway (Devices>Gateway). Configure the H.323 gateway accordingly and you should be able to get basic call functionality.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for your help!

I didn't think of creating an H.323 GW, but I will give it a try. It makes much more sense...

By the way, my collegaue told me that the audio problem was related to a FW which we didn't know to be there.

Thanks and regards,

Carmen
