Hi,
conference now can utilize both Hardware Conference resources that you create through DSP farm or Software conference resources when you activate IPVMSA service on CUCM.

Other than this, you need to understand how to configure and troubleshoot Conference Now. The main requirements will be at hardware level for DSPs (no special license needed).

Hi Mohammed,
Am I correct to say that from below image, if we put a value of 4 for the Voice Codecs Medium Complexity with 32 party, we will have a 4 simultaneous conference with a maximum of 32 participants? Which means that it can accommodate 128 participants?

That would only be feasible if you use the SW CFB on a dedicated media resource server, the maximum number of conferencees you can get with a PDVM3, using G711 is 64. And this means only G711 can be used.
Now, if you change the meet-me parameter to 100, you're going to end up with just a handful of conferences in your whole system, as you're telling the system to reserve resources for 100 assistants (whether you get to a 100 or not) for anyone who starts a conference-now or meet-me

Hi Kier,
You software CFB would not support g729 codec, so you can not mix and match resources. You will have to utilize DSP resources to support g729. If you are using g729 codec and using software conference bridge, it will invoke transcoder for every call that comes in g729.

Thanks for the response. Do you mean that we only transcoder (Hardware Resource) to support the external participants (G729) and software resource (CFB of CUCM) will accommodate the number of participants?

Hi Kier,
Its the reverse, Hardware resources would support g729, software CFB for CUCM would only support g711 codec.

If you enable G729 in the DSPfarm config, the number goes down to 32 maximum participants.
And no, you cannot mix resources for this, you can only use one CFB, and that is chosen as it's initiated.
You'd need to configure xcoding to support those calls.
