I have been told that a Cisco 2821 voice enabled IOS can covert an incoming fax to a .tiff file that can then hand to exchange server or Unity server.
Is that possible? Could you point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Carlos,
It is possible. Here are some reference docs for T.37 Store and Forward Fax.

Configuring T.37 Store-and-Forward Fax
T.37/T.38 Fax Gateway Command Reference

Hope this helps.

This is nto a very scalable solution. If Unity is loaded with users (voice mail subscribers, call handlers, autoattendants,) and you use store and forward T37 faxing on the same server, this could increase the cpu utilization on the Unity server as the number of fax sessions going through the box increases. Its also recommended that you use a router with good ram (atleast 512 to 1 gb of ram) as tiff images can chew up a lot of memory.
I d recommend to go purchase something like Xmedius IP fax that uses t38 faxing.

Thanks everyone. I do agree that is not an optimal option and I have let the person that is looking into implementing this know, but they don't want to invest in a fax server. They do have a Unity box that they don't actually use, although they might in the future.
