IP phone 7971 + 7914 expansion module 'can't change button'

I've just come across a 7971 with 1x 7914 expansion module where I couldn't configure the last few buttons on the expansion module.  If I tried to assigned anything to a button I got the response 'can't change button...'.  The 7971 phone had a couple of buttons with overlays assigned to them - I found that by removing one of the overlays allowed me to configure the last few buttons on the 7914.

Is there some overall max number of DNs that can be assigned to a 7971 + 7914 combo which the overlaid DNs are being counted towards that was causing this issue, it's the most obvious explanation I can think of?  Is it a 7971 or 7914 firmware issue?

Hi,

I have seen such messages where there are active calls on the lines.

Have we tried configuring those button when there is no active call on any line of the phone and not even on the lines being watched or overlay?
