KVM Access on MCS 7800

All,

been working on the UCS since day 1 and have been thrown into a situation with an MCS 7800 series server running CM 6.x that appears to be down.  Can't ping it or browse to it.  I connected a monitor and USB keyboard to it and got no response.  Connected monitor and USB keyboard to other MCS server and get a prompt to log in.

Anyone have any ideas on what to try net to get management level access to this server?

Hi Scott,

The suject says " KVM..." are you trying to switch between these MCS servers via the KVM switch console ?

I would suggest you access these servers via the below Management ports:-

for HP servers - iLO port

for IBM servers - IMM port

Try the below steps for further troubleshooting;-

• Check the System Health LEDs in the front panel for any h/w failures.
• If you have accessed the servers physically and don't see a display on monitor after accessing both the VGA ports (front and back), the only option is try rebooting the server.

Tanks for the response.  It turned out to be a bad DIMM.  Replced it and we are now up and running.
