Hi,
I have a customer that needs to integrate CUCM 8.5 with Lync 2010. I can see on the web that these can be integrated over SIP.
I need to know if the Lyc soft and Cisco IP harphone can have the same extension number. The idea is if the calls comes to the hardphone the Lync soft phone should also ring.

yes they need to have same extension for phone control and Presence
you can use in cucm application dial rules to have some digit manipulations but better to have both same number
normally it will be in the +E164 format

Thanks.
Can you refer me to the documentation to know how can i achieve it?
I am not getting the point that if i have the same extension on hardphone and lync - why will the CUCM throw the call to SIP trunk for lync when an internal entension has the same number.
Am i missing something?

this is if you want to use it as softphone not only for phone control and presnece the media need to go to the OCS
however if its only for phone control and presnece you do not need the SIP trunk for CUCM
all what you need the SIP trunk between OCS and the CUPs server
