Migrate CUCM from 6.x to 8.x

We will be doing a CUCM 6.x to 8.x upgrade this year. We are replacing all the old servers with new (possibly Cisco based VM-UCS) ones and I was wondering what tool is used (DMA no longer valid in this scenario) to migrate all our users, profiles, phones, GW's, etc? I have heard some vague mention of BAT and then.....

The only two options are that either you upgrade on MCS up to 8.0(2) as minimum (first release supported on VM, you can higher if you want/can) and then do DRS backup and restore on UCS.

Or simply use BAT, depending on source version you might need to adjust the csv with any new fields the new version has.
