What can I use to connect my existing 1.5m / PRI / T1 Lines to my Cisco MSC 7800 Series Media Convergence Server. I working with CUCM Version 7.1.5.20000-6
Presently the Network configuration is as follows:
From the carrier T1 Smart Jacks via patch cable to WIC Card installed on a Cisco 3845 Router. This has crashed and I Do Not know the credentials to login / even if i did the Console port is not allowing access ((Maybe dead / Along with the WIC Card). There is No documentation on file for the Cisco 3845 configuration.
The dead Cisco 3845 is connected via GE 0/1 & GE 0/0 Ethernet ports ( Presently Flashing green and is UP) To the Core 6509 Switches. The Cisco Phone System is also connected to the same Cisco 6509 Core Switches.
GigabitEthernet3/43 is up, line protocol is up (connected)

I have a Cisco VG-224 Router on site which was used for Fax Lines, and is configured on the Cisco Phone System and is also connected to the Cisco Core 6509 Switch. Can I some how use this for the T1 Connection.
Presently I have NO telephone access to External inbound and or out bound calls, only internal calls through the Cisco Phone System.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello All,
I resolved this issue by installing new Memory on the Cisco 3845 Motherboard, and removed the Memory Module mentioned below.
MT9VDDT6472AG - 335F1 200901 CBNDJ57001
PC2700U-25331-A1
512 DDR 333 CL2.5 ECC
Also needed to do a " no shutdown" on GE 0/1 - Because it was Administratively Down.

Is the router registered to CUCM? Is that MGCP/H.323? What is the status of the registration? What error you get when you dial out? Are you using the correct dialing pattern?
No you cannot use the VG224 for T1 connection.
As per the information given i guess everything was working and now you are not able to make the calls out. If the router is dead it doesn't flash the light. If you forgot or not provided with credentials analyze the impact and reset the router password. I would do that as a last resort. Have you checked with the T1 provider if everything is fine until the demarc?

Hi , thanks for the reply -
I verified with Verizon - They made a onsite visit to my location and performed loop back test of the Base DMARC - then straight to the wall mounted T1 Smart Jacks on the Wall. All tested came back "OK".
Wind Stream is my Provider for the 2 PRI Lines - They lease from Verizon - They also have verified all is good on there end.
The 3845 Router that holds the WIC Card - Connected to the T1 Smart Jack on the wall ( Patch Cable tested 100% good), there are NO links on the WIC card at all, however I said earlier there are good green lights for the GE Ethernet ports.
The 3845 Console only gives me a blank / black screen.

May be a bad WIC card or someone accidentally shut the interface. Since the LAN is up, are you able to SSH/Telnet if its enabled? Try different console device, cable and different baud rate.

Hi thanks for the reply,
The problem is I have No IP Address listed for this device to perform any Telnet / SHH connections.
The equipment was installed sometime in 2009, before my time working here, its been working seamlessly until a recent shut down occurred. Even my supervisor does not have any information for the device recorded any place.
Is there a way to get the IP 3845 off the GE 0/1 or GE 0/0 Ethernet connections to the Core Cisco 6509 Switches.
I checked the CUCM Admin console and Cisco 3845 as a Gateway listed, but the IP Address is stated as Unknown.

I bought New WIC cards and replaced them in the Cisco 3845 Router, the new Cards never showed any lights.

"Show CDP Neighbors" or "show cdp neighbor details" command in the 6509 should help you

Hi many thanks for your responses,
I tried on the Core Cisco 6509 Switch and was Not able to get any info for the Cisco 3845 Router.
All I can get from the Core switch is the connection information between the Cisco 3845 and the Cisco 6509 Core , see below:
GigabitEthernet3/43 is up, line protocol is up (connected)

Any ideas at this point will be very much appreciated.
Also is there any device I can buy and put in place of the Cisco 3845.
Thanks

Hi Thanks,
Yes I agree
Problem is I do not have the old router configuration.
Where can I find information to help me configure the WIC Cards - Cisco 2-Port T1/E1 Multiflex Interface Card, VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1
On Phone system side i will have to configure a new Gateway?
Thanks

You dont have to do anything in the phone end. All you need to do is to configure the new gateway as MGCP or H.323 and register it in the call manager. Is your gateway & Call manager resides in the same location or in a different remote location? Hope the below link should help you:
MGCP:
H.323:
