What's the easiest way to upgrade really old 7940 and 7960's hanging on an 8.5 call manager? They're booting up looking for P003xxxx images.

Hi,

You cannot upgrade to firmware release 8.1(2)  directly from firmware release 8.0(10) or an earlier release. You have  to upgrade to firmware release 8.1(1) first, then upgrade from release  8.1(1) to release 8.1(2).

Typically these types of upgrade restrictions are due to changes in the signing  of the loads.

Tere.

you shall have to go via a stepped upgrade. Whats the version that you are running , For phone load go to CM-->Device-->Device DEfaults and see the loads on 7940/60. Also can you give us the callmanager version.

Thank you for the replies. The CCM version is 8.5 and the default load for the 7940 and 7960 are set to P00308010200. I'll try installing an older firmware image and see how goes.

I upgraded the phones to 8-1-1 and then 8-1-2sr2. Thank you for the help.
