Plantronics disconnects after 30/45 seconds

I have the Plantronics CS540 and a Cisco phone 8861.  The headset turns off about 30-45 seconds after a call is started.  My e-hook headset is enabled which is what other users with this problem have encountered. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Some things to check:

1. How is the CS540 connected to the 8861? You should be using the APC-43 EHS cable.

2. Is the headset base set to the correct configuration switch, pretty sure is should be A.

3. You can install the Poly software to check for software and firmware updates.
