Polycom IP7000 CUCM 7.1.5 Auth User ID does not match DN

Hi,

i've searched a lot and did not find an accurate description on how to configure those third-party sip phones towards a cucm.

Most people tried a lot and suddenly it worked and they don't know why :-(

Unfortunately I do not have a green field to configure users with same password/pin/digest-pw.

Users are synced from ldap with alphanumeric values.

So I created a third party sip phone and assigned a digest user to it.

On the polycom itself I configured:

Line 1

Address: DN

Authentication User ID: USERNAME

Authentication Password: PASSWORD

Server 1

Address: CUCM IP SUB1

Server 2

Address: CUCM IP SUB2

That's enough configuration to get x-lite etc running.

Does the Polycom device not distinguish UserID (Address?) and Authentication User ID?

Trying any other combinations (among other things using "Third Party Name") does not work.

Is there something I am missing here?

Regards

Sebastian

I found a solution:

First of all:

You'll only need to insert on the Polycom:

Line 1

Address: DN

Authentication User ID: USER ID (from end user)

Authentication Password: DIGEST CREDENTIALS (from end user)

Server 1

Address: CUCM IP*

*CUCM IP reflects the first node inside the Device-Pool's CM-Group. Polycom does not support redundancy i.e. inserting additional CUCM IP in field Server 2. The device will stay unregistered or will flap between the two nodes. Cisco's understanding of redundancy is somewhat different to Polycom. A gatekeeper/DNS-based approach should be used instead.
