QoS Explainations and proper implementation.

1. I am working for a few different school districts as a phone-in-tech. They all have VoIP issues where calls will be dropped during when there is alot of network traffic. None of the switches have any QoS implemented on them. I am wondering what commands are  needed to properly configure QoS through out the network.

But most importantly I am trying to understand what the commands mean.

I feel like I have a good grasp of the mls qos map cos-dscp command means. Im not too positive on what the numbers after it mean. I think I understand it as a ranking of some sort.

mls qos map cos-dscp 0 8 16 24 34 46 48 56

mls qos srr-queue output cos-map queue 1 threshold 3  5

mls qos srr-queue output cos-map queue 2 threshold 1  2 4

mls qos map cos-dscp 0 8 16 24 34 46 48 56

mls qos srr-queue output cos-map queue 1 threshold 3  5

mls qos srr-queue output cos-map queue 2 threshold 1  2 4

can someone explain to me the syntax happening in the mls qos srr-queue lines and what they mean?

I think it applies to the egress ports i just don't quite grasp what the threshold values mean.

Is there anyone that can shed some light on the situation? Thanks!

Hi,

Have a look at this link

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps5023/products_tech_note09186a0080883f9e.shtml

This explains QOS on a 3750 (same as 3560) better than I can
