Question about 7937G, or perhaps Cisco phones in general?

Hello,

This is my first time in the Cisco forums so I apologize for the novice question.

Our office uses an older Cisco phone - the Cisco Unified IP Conference Station 7937G - for which we have two extension pods that came as a part of the CP-7937-MIC-KIT 7937 Series VoIP Phone Microphone Kit. The pods work well, but don't quite fully meet our needs. To that end, I have three questions:

  1. I would ideally like to have two additional extension pods, totaling 4. Is there any sort of "splitter" solution to connect even more pods? Since these use a proprietary port (not USB), we can't explore traditional splitter solutions.
  2. Our phone sits on a very large conference table, and the pods do not reach the ends of the table. Is there any sort of extension cable that is available for purchase?
  3. Obviously, these pods are only microphones, and not speakers. Does Cisco offer any sort of speaker extension solution for these conference phones?

Thank you in advance!

Rob

Hi Rob,

Welcome aboard!

The 7937 is not going to be able to be modified in the way that you desire and it is actually an "End of Life" product.

You would need to look at installing the new 8831 Conference phone which has the ability to have 2 units "daisy chained" together with multiple mics to better support large conference rooms. Here's a clip;

Expanded room coverage

●  160-degrees conical pattern provides even coverage of listening area.
●  Four Hemi-Cardioid microphones are perfectly spaced so that they combine to provide a 180-degree pick-up pattern around the device. Speech is captured at the same level at all points around the Cisco Unified IP Conference Phone 8831.
●  Ability to grow to fit a variety of room needs.
◦   Small Office (base unit)
◦   Standard Conference Room (base unit and 2 wired or wireless extension microphones)
◦   Boardroom (daisy chaining two base units)
◦   Large Boardroom (daisy chaining two base units and 2 wired or wireless extension microphones)

Great, thank you Rob!
