Question the call transfer

Roland Theisen

Hello,

We are planning to migrate our telephony system completely to Cisco VoIP. So we intend to buy 600 new Cisco IP Phones. I had a discussion with my boss concerning the different function on the Cisco phones and we also talked about the call transfer functionality.

Actually our users do the call transfer, by pressing a button on their phone, after that they dial the destination number and then they simply hang up the hook to perform the transfer.

On the Cisco Phone, however, the user needs to press the "Transfer" key, dial the destination number and then he has to press the "Transfer" button a second time in order to complete the call transfer. But as the users are used to simple hang up the hook, I can imagine that a lot of calls will be losed in the beginning and the users will complain.

So my boss asked me the question if it would be possible to programm the "call transfer" functionality in the same way as we have it actually on our PBX phones? Do you have any suggestions/ideas?

Actually, we are using the Cisco Callmanager 7.1.5 and the firmware of the IP Phones is 9.0.3. As IP phones we will use the 7945G and the 7965G models.

Best regards,

Marc Hoffmann

Hello Marc,

What you are talking about is the consult transfer , there are two types of transfers on cisco IP phones , consult transfer and blind transfer .

By default, blind transfer is not enabled for IP Phones. When you try  to transfer a call, it would place the first line on hold and grab the  second line and perform a consult transfer. To enable blind transfer,  change the service parameter

Transfer On-hook Enabled to True.

This will allow users to hit the transfer softkey and dial the number  and either go on-hook or hit the transfer softkey again to complete the  call.

Hope this is what you are looking for.
