I am currently running a CME 7.1 server and yes I know there are newer versions out there I actually have one but can't utilize it until my IA does his job. This being said we have a remote site that has the 7911 phones and i am guessing they were using a newer call manager the last time they were online due to their firmware being at 9.4. The load on my call manager is 8.4 for these phones - they will not downgrade on their own and and we can not get them to work - keep going into upgrade and reboot loop - is it possible to manually delete the firmware on these phones so that they will work with the version of code i have on my server?

Remove "load 7911 xxx", create cnf-files.
Note, you IOS/CME is very old and should be updated.

After certain firmware versions are installed, it is not possible to downgrade anymore.
However CME will work fine with whatever firmware version on the phones.

Well for some reason the phones are not working with the current CME server. They show downloading, but unlike the 7941 phone they don't show boxes for the download and install and they reboot and go right back into the download again. This cycle continues until you unplug the phone. Now 7940, 7941, 7945's don't have this problem just the 7911.
The way we have it configured the phone gets an ip from the router/switch in the lease it points to the CME servers ip. I see the ip binding, i can ping the ip that the phone gets the phone just doesn't ever get past the download and reboot loop and the only thing i can see is that they do have the 9.2 version of the sccp code where as my server only has the 8.4 code.
Any other suggestions?

yes it is, but since it is free at this time and it's all i have i have to make it work. We are looking into getting another callmanager appliance from cisco for this network but as you know the gov is broke. Been spending all of our money on luncheons and award cermonies.

All, this has been fixed, found out phones were looking for base config files and they weren't listed on tftp flash_server command, added to server list and now phones work with no problem.
