Setting up a Callmanager on Cisco 2811

Hey guys,

i am a new Member in this forum. At the moment i begin to study for the CCNA Voice later the Professionell. For this i want to build up a Voice Lab. Know i have a few questions to the Hardware:

Already in my Lab:

2 Cisco 2811 Routers

IP Phones 7975, 7961, 7960, 7920

a ISDN Euro Basic Connection [i live in Germany]

Switches etc.

Know to the Hardware i will need to build the LAB:

1. PVDM2 for Transcode

2. VIC2-2BRI N/T Voice Interface Card

3. Switching Module like HWIC-4ESW or HWICD-9ESW

Questions:

1. Is it possible to put the VIC Card into a HWIC Slot of the Router ? I found different Dokumentations.

VIC-2DID, VIC-4FXS/DID, VIC2-

4FXO (includes built-in CAMA

support), VIC2-2FXO (includes builtin

CAMA support), VIC2-2BRINT/

TE, VIC2-E/M

Any native HWIC slot on Cisco 2801, 2811,

2821, 2851, 3825, and 3845 and any VIC slot

on NM-HD or NM-HDV2

I want to install the cards like this:

Port 0 + 1 -> HWICD-9ESW

Port 2 VIC2-2BRI N/T

Port 3 VIC2-2FXS

Is this possible ?

Thx

Jan,

Port 0 + 1 -> HWICD-9ESW

Port 2 VIC2-2BRI N/T

Port 3 VIC2-2FXS

Yes you can use this physical setup.

You will need to make sure you have at least a PVDM2-8 for your voice channels

Better if you can obtain a larger PVDM like PVDM2-32 or PVDM2-64 this will give

you more scope to build more voice cards or Media resources like MTP,XCODE & CONFERENCE

Hi, i want to use the Cisco PVDM2-16 16-Channel Packet Fax/Voice DSP Module because its only for my Exam preparing. I want to use only up to 4 Phones.

This should be enough ?

Hi Jan,

First off, welcome aboard

Just to jump in for my friend Alex for a moment (+5 for your excellent answer buddy!)

The PVDM2-16 should work just fine in your scenario.

Cheers!
