I'm trying to create SIP trunks between an Avaya 5.2 system and a CUCM 8.02 and I have the calls working from the Avaya systems calling to the CUCM but calls are not working when calling from the CUCM to the ACM, phone goes off hook but just sits there for about a minute then busies out. I'm pretty I've worked through the partition and calling search space issues. Do you guys have any suggestions for what to look for to troubleshoot this?
Thanks

Does the other end expects early offer or delayed offer?
The default is delayed offer, if you need early offer you need to check the MTP required under SIP trunk and make sure one is available via the MRGL.

Hi,
Please try with the following document for SIP trunk between CUCM and Avaya.
http://support.avaya.com/css/P8/documents/100037321
It should work.

Ok, I followed all of the instructions in the Avaya app note document and I still am getting a busy signal, except now with SES in the equation the busy signal is immediate after dialing the number. Is there a way I can see the SIP messages from the CUCM?

To see the sip messages you can either take a sniffer trace, see https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-11599. Once you got the capture you can give you a nice drawing (Telephony -> voip calls).
The second option is to collect the detailed ccm sdi/sdl traces, instruction on the below link: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_tech_note09186a0080094e89.shtml
