Softkey Template - Redial button not appearing

We have around 50 phones - 8941 - issue - the phones even after setting the correct call state and adding the red-dial softkey option in on-hook and off-hook template the , the 8941 phones, do not seem to show the key, even after rebooting the phone several times. Is there a step we are missing or is this some kind of a known issue with the 8941 devices. Can someone give a quick advice on this.

Hi Abhishek,

Here's why this is happening;

The Cisco Unified IP Phones 8941 and 8945 do not support all the softkeys that are configurable in Softkey Template Configuration on Cisco Unified CM Administration. Cisco  Unified Communications Manager allows you to enable or disable some  softkeys in the control policy configuration settings, but the Cisco  Unified IP Phones 8941 and 8945 do not support feature control policy  configuration settings. Table 5-2 lists the features, softkeys that can be configured on a softkey template, and note whether it is supported on the Cisco Unified IP Phones 8941 and 8945.

Note Cisco  Unified Communications Manager allows you to configure any softkey in a  softkey template, but unsupported softkeys do not display on the phone.

Hi Rob,

Hi,

thank you for the guide which explains this.

I can only agree that this is more then poor for such an expensive phone.

A redial button is not presented to the user, but a video softkey to see theirself :-)

Hi together,

i am just looking in the user guide for this type of phone. I found, that the phone have a dedicated redial button. So you dont need to have an redial softkey.

Hope this helps.
