Hi,
I have configured 9 speed-dials on keypad digits but am unable to dial any speed-dial through keypad.When I press 1 it should show me speed-dial softkey on the screen but it does not do so.
Only 4 programmable keys on left side of screen working fine with first four speed-dials.
Could somebody pls suggest what is wrong in the phone whereas I can see speed-dial softkey in older models like 6945 and 7942.
Thanks
Shahzad

Hi
Yes my bad sorry... 8961 is a SIP only phone :)
Ok on CUCME is on a wish list this feature. https://tools.cisco.com/quickview/bug/CSCug54233
Which IOS version are you running?
Please let me know
Cheers

so its a known bug, Does this exist in15.4 version only?
we are using this version.
c2900-universalk9-mz.SPA.152-4.M3.bin
As a solution should we get a key expansion module or we can do something to fix it.
Thanks

Hi Shahzad.
Before buying an expansion module, which would work, I suggest to get the latest available IOS and try it
For 2900 there are these versions available:
15.3.3M6 released on 7th of August 2015
15.4.3M3 released on 7th of August 2015
15.5.3M released on 27th of July 2015
Please let me know
Regards

I have upgraded router's IOS to 15.4.3M4 which is most latest release for ISR 2921 but the issue is still there.

Did you check 'fastdial' feature? It's bit different from speed dial but may serve your purpose.

Yes I also checked fastdial but nothing is working for me.

Ok... other option I've seen in some installations is to simply use translation rules/profiles to convert short numbers to actually dialed numbers. Need to assign translation profile to ephone-dn (incoming dial peer). Just need to take care that those short numbers should not overlap with other numbers to be outdialed.

Seems you've SIP phone so in that case under 'voice register dn'...

I don't think this is what am looking for.We need to have internal extensions assigned to keypad buttons 1 to 9 so that user will press any keypad key and through speed-dial call will be routed to extension assigned to that key.
Its a bug in CME, you can check on following link.
https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCug54233/?referring_site=bugquickviewredir
that bug is specified in 8961 but the problem is that we bought new model 8841 and registered them with fast track(reference to 8961) and we see speed-dial softkey on screen which is disabled.
Thanks

Then you will have to consider key expansion module. One other feature is local speed dialing in which you can copy the speeddial.xml file in gateway flash as per following format and will be accessible from directory menu.
<CiscoIPPhoneDirectory>
<Title>Local Speed Dial</Title>
<Prompt>Record 1 to 1 of 1 </Prompt>
<DirectoryEntry>
<Name>Security</Name>
<Telephone>71111</Telephone>
</DirectoryEntry>
<DirectoryEntry>
<Name>Marketing</Name>
<Telephone>71234</Telephone>
</DirectoryEntry>
<DirectoryEntry>
<Name>Tech Support</Name>
<Telephone>71432</Telephone>
</DirectoryEntry>
</CiscoIPPhoneDirectory>

We can also add these in personal speed-dial from phone settings but it's not the solution, user doesn't want to go to directory to dial the required extension.
KEM will be the ultimate solution.
Thanks
