Trying to forward voicemails to Gmail accounts. Does anyone have a link to the configuration steps?

There is no UM with Gmail, the UM documentation outlines what products are supported for UM/SIB, if you haven't, you should review them, all available on cisco.com

Best you can do, is to simply configure your STMP smart host, and use the accept and relay feature to forward the messages to Gmail.

Just in case you are interested, there is a 3rd party product called Esnatech that will enable full unified messaging with Unity Connection and Gmail;
