Hi

I read the Unity documentation and it indicates for Unity in standalone voice mail you can install the windows 2000 server, exchange 2000 and unity all on the one server. Then setup the server as voice mail server and message store on the same machine.

Can anyone confirm if this is the case.

That setup is called VoiceMail only, you install Exchange, SQL, Directory and Unity software all in one server.

Normally when you have Exchange Store off-box you use Unity as Unified Messaging Server

(You should get UM license for this) basically you will pay for accesing VM for an email client.

Hi,

My customer has Unity4.2 and Unity for Domino, Unity Data Store. However customer does not want to integrate the unity with his domino notes system.

Can I install Unity in stand alone ?Else what could be the workaround ?

If you are a windows person, you are probably doubting this should be done. Normal Microsoft documentation says not to install Exchange and all this on one box. The voicemail only setup, for the all in one box, works great. It's a fairly simple, but long setup with lots of blue progress bars going across the screen. Couple notes for install:

- Create your voicemail domain for voicemail

- Make this Unity server GC/DC

- Install DNS on it so it can talk to itself and Exchange basically.

- If you plan on having more than 200 subscribers or whatever you feel comfortable, install another DC just for backup. This will have a copy of your AD for you.

- When you create your subscribers, and you plan on moving to UM someday, save yourself some time and create all the AD accounts with the same IDs and same Exchange Alias. Unity will be much more friendly when you go to migrate to your UM domain. (most likely your production domain with Exchange 2x running.)
