We have found that users can do a long press on their 8811 and 7841 phones and are able to program speed dial buttons regardless of what is programmed for that button in CM. For instance we have a user that has an 8811 phone and her template only has BLF's available other than buttons we have programmed but she is able to long press the button and type in a phone number and a person's name for a speed dial.
Problem is when we look at her phone, we can't see the programming so we overwrite them and then the user is upset. Has anyone else had this issue? We are on CUCM 12.5.1.11900-146.
Thanks

No, there's no way to disable that, unless you go back to a FW version in which that feature does not exist.

That's WAD, those speed dials are local to the phone and CUCM has no idea about them, only buttons that are not being used can be turned into speed dials by the long press. Have her use the self care portal for the speed dials and/or user education to not use that method.

She doesn't want to use the self-care portal because this is easier for her. We want to be able to disable this on the phone so she has to use the portal. Is this possible?

Not sure why it was designed this way since it makes it difficult to support users when you can't see the programming on their phone but understand it is WAD.
