Is anyone using a third party backup app such as " Veritas Netbackup " to backup CUCM 7, UCCX 7 and Unity 7?

If so , are there any recommendations?

The CUCM application runs on a Cisco customized Linux appliance.  You are not allowed to load 3rd party software on the CUCM server.  So, there is no way to load a Veritas agent.

The UCCX solution uses a built-in backup software called BARS.  This software backs up the database and certain key configuration files/registry keys either to a local file or to an offbox server using two-stage backups.   UCCX does not support 3rd party backup agents installed on the server.

Unity comes with a tool called DiRT but it isn't meant to be a full blown backup solution on larger systems.  The Unity BU recommends using 3rd party backup solutions.  I don't see Veritas mentions specifically.  But guidelines for support policies on backup software are available here:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/unity/7x/support/7xcusupp.html#wp468097

Specific recommendations on choosing a backup solution for Unity are provided in the following URL:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/unity/5x/maintenance/guide/ex/5xcumge045.html#wp1073824

So, the bottom line is you can probably use Veritas on Unity.  You would not have official Cisco TAC support if you loaded Veritas on UCCX and you simply cannot tempt fate and load Veritas on the CUCM system.
