VG30D Craft Port access

Hi All, I have 2 VG30D's that are not accessable via the web interface so tried the craft RS232 port but still can't get any access - tested the cable - all OK. The guide says use the stubb RJ45 cross-over cable but the port is a old style 9Pin RS232 - any ideas how to access or a magic way to do a complete factory reset?

It shouldn't be a cross-over cable.  It is likely either straight-through, or a rollover (1->8, 2->7, 3->6, etc).
