Team,
We have SIP environment where in SIP ITSP- SBC- CUCM- SIP phones.
Now for branches we have a requirement for supporting fax lines and we need to choose protocol for the analog voice gateway.
I know SIP has many advantages and can support Fax but i am not too familiar with it support for analog Voice gateway, should we go ahead configure the device to use SIP.Can anyone give me some insight why should we go for SIP rather then h323 for analog VG's?
We want to use fax and call will be coming in via CUCM

Hi Deepak,
+ SIP uses less messages compared to H323 (H225/H245) to setup calls so less overhead on network and less impact due to delay/latency in the network.
+ It is easier to troubleshoot SIP than H323.

One more thing I would add.... Better to troubleshoot with 1 protocol than 2.
I would do SIP end to end.
