I'm running CUC 8.5(1). Clients were using an older version of Unity with ViewMail. On one of the machines (Windows 7) I installed ViewMail 8.5.6 and the playback bar didn't show up in the email. I uninstalled ViewMail, deleted extend.dat and frmcache.dat and installed 8.0.3. In this case the playback bar showed up but didn't work. The same thing has happend on an XP machine. If I install Viewmail 8.5.6 on a fresh machine that never had an older version of ViewMail, it works just fine. Any suggestions?

Your post doesn't explicitly say this so I'm just making sure: Before you installed ViewMail 8.5(6) you uninstalled all previous versions, correct? The release notes state that if you fail to do this it may seem to be installed but not work.
Also, did you install the new version using the EXE or the MSI? There are a few dependancies that only the EXE version will install for you.

Uninstalled first on one, not on the other. Same result.
