Vmware Migration activity

Hello Everyone,

Very Good Morning,

VM team planned to upgrade the all VM servers, so currently one of the location having CUCM PUB and SUB in VM server.

So, need to know how can i take a necessary precaution before doing the migration.

What i need to do from my side?

The prompt response would be highly appreciated.

Hi Viru,

Here are things to look into before the ESXi upgrade:

1. Validate that the new version of ESXi is supported by your version of CUCM, check out the following page for the compatibility matrix:

2. Ensure you have valid DRS backups that exist outside of the servers being upgraded (in case something goes wrong with the ESXi upgrade).
   
   

If you would like to keep the CUCM servers online during the upgrade and have the required hardware, you can strategically move the CUCM guests around while you upgrade (check this out). If you don't care if the nodes are online during the ESXi upgrade, then just shut them down gracefully prior to the upgrade.

After the ESXi upgrade is complete, upgrade the VMWare tools version on the CUCM servers (if needed). Do some research on upgrading VMWare tools for your version of CUCM before doing so.

Also don’t forget to match the VIB driver versions to the firmware installed on the physics server. Your VMware server team should be very familiar with this requirement already since it applies to all servers and is not unique to hosts running Cisco Collab VMs. Just in case they aren’t, here is a useful link if using Cisco UCS hardware:
