Hello,

We are testing out the CP 8831 conference cube; this is our first attempt to register a SIP phone in CUC 8.6. What steps needed to be taken for the phone to register?  Thanks

Hi Vincent

I hope your cucm version is 8.6(2) since 8831 is not supported on 8.6(1).

Also can you confirm what the complete 8.6 version you are using. If any version under 8.6.2su4 , then you will need to install minimum devicepack version of devicepack-8_6_2_24093-2 to enable 8831 phones.

From there on you can easily add 8831 just like any other phone in the cucm.

Hi Aditya, Thanks for the reply.

We are running version 8.6.2.239000-10. We will try your suggestion to get the phone register.  Thanks again.

Hi Vincent

Please be careful when installing the device pack, since that may lead to the firmware upgrade for other phones as well.

Incase you do not want to upgrade the firmware, you may want to change device defaults back to current settings that will prevent firmware change on other phones.

Note:
When you apply a Device Package to enable new device support, a cluster-wide reboot is required for those devices to register successfully.

Aditya, another question if we may

We are currently at version 8.6(2a)SU3.  we are considering applying 8.6(2a)SU5.  If we do apply 8.6(2a)SU5 will the required device pack automatically get installed?

Thanks

Hi Vincent

Since you are going to upgrade to SU5, there is no need to apply device pack separately . 8831 phones are a part of Su5 release.

Once you upgrade and reboot the servers, you should readily see option to add 8831 phones.

Aditya

Thanks Aditya!
