RITE for ipv6

is ipv6 supported by RITE? if so, what r the limitations? special config requirements?

i see no mention of ipv6 in the RITE docs which implies that it's not supported.

i tried it in a test environment, and did in fact see some packets when filtering foripv6, but not pings nor any other ipv6 activity which i initiated.

the only packets i saw where dhcp v6 multicasts (at least thats what wireshark called them), win7 initiated.

tnx

Any specific reason you want to use RITE?

We generally use EPC for troubleshooting:

thanks for u'r rapid reply. i was out sick for a few days so i didn't notice until now.

we're using RITE in our educational lab environment for a number of reasons.

we looking at lots of things besides cisco via wireshark and this way, the students

learn to master the wireshark for the various things they're monitoring.

we've used the RITE problem free for ipv4 (EXCEPT for mpls which is unsupported b RITE).

i appreciate u'r suggesting the EPC, but weren't u a bit quick on the trigger to

classify u'r response as 'correct answer' when u didn't even answer the question.

you in fact provide a possible alternative which in my environment and needs.

is sub-optimal relative to RITE, if it supports ipv6 in a reasonable manner.

Actually only originator of thread can pick the correct answer (unless you're admin/moderator, which I'm not), Cisco employees can only "endorse" answer :-)

I'm not aware of any ongoing development on RITE, all the features I used in RITE are present in EPC (and more)

sorry about that comment about u'r being quick on the trigger to tag u'r reply as correct. i don't use this forum much. looked like the 'correct answer' icon was a tag, not an option for me to select. guess i clicked it inadvertently.

in any event, regardless of ongoing dev of RITE (or lack thereof), sounds

to me like since there's no mention of v6 support, i shouldn't expect it.

true?
