Hello,
I have a basic question (I think):
On a 7200 - What happen if I configure an IP address on a subinterface that is algo configured with an EoMPLS? Let's say that in that interface arrives an SNMP packet ... For forwarding purposes, where is going to look the router, on the routing table? or it is just going to tranpsort that on the EoMPLS tunnel?
Thanks!
Regards!

Hi,
IF you are able to configure an IP address on an interface which is already configured for EoMPLS then you are running into a bug. I used to be able to do this on the 7600 - I reported it to TAC and was actually wanting it to stay in the code but alas it got sorted. What happens is that it runs a virtual bridge between the layer 2 and layer 3 connection - they didnt like that so removed it from the code.

You can't do that...

I've set up IP addresses in the interface vlan which is configured for eompls. The only thing that i did noticed is that when forwarding packets this way there's no fragmentation. I read this in the release notes for version 12.1.
