Gratuitous ARP causing network disconnections

Hi,

Provided L2VLL to metro customer. He is able to access all systems though it. But two linux systems have problem. Problem starts like this.

Location A ------------------------- Location B

(problem systems

are here)

From location A customer will initiate ping to Location B from two problem systems. We will see their MAC in Location A customer port and Location B trunk port. It is perfect, but after some time we will see the same MAC's on Location B customer port and systems loose ping response.

For this we have run wireshark in Location B customer port and observed 'gratuitous arp' causing this. How to resolve this issue. Can we do something on switches to prevent this problem. Customer doesn't have backup ISP link.

Regards

Siva K

Check Duplicate IP address might be causing this at location B, since its learning MAC add of location A, from B side location. so its updating the ARP caching so ping response is lost.
