Hi Fahad,

You could check this link to see if the provider your interview is with has a Cisco powered network.

http://www.cisco.com/pcgi-bin/cpn/cpn_pub_bassrch.pl

You can use the fact that you work with some Cisco kit to your advantage.

In the ISP I work for our vendors include Cisco, Foundry Networks and some Extreme gear, it'll vary

from ISP but you should also get an idea from the

providers website about their network.

A lot will also depend on if your starting out in a help desk role or going to work in the ISP's NOC (Network Operations Centre) as this is were you get

to configure and support the network infrastructure.

Have a good grasp on Internet technologies DNS,FTP,IP Addressing/Subnetting,ARP etc and go in with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Very best of luck.

Peter,

I'm trying to duplicate an issue in a lab (not a production impacting issue, more for our Network management). We have two Data Centers, Data Center1 has one ISP one connection and Data Center2 has two ISP connections to two different ISP's. When we do maint. on Data Center2, we stop advertising BGP to both ISP's.

The issue is if we stop BGP only to one ISP, the router is still advertising. So what we have to do is remove BGP from both routers. We eventually would like to do is only remove BGP from one router.

My question is I almost have the lab configured exactly like production. I think I'm missing some BGP ISP configuration, can you help with this?

thanks,

Mario.

You might find BGP conditional statements helpful for your lab exercise, where you can advertise BGP to one ISP at a time.

Check this out too:

This certainly is not A-Z but may be B-C.

Good Luck.
