ME 3400 and Voice

Hi,

Can the ME3400 switch support a voice and data VLAN on the same port.

On 3550 series switches, we would se the ports to be access ports, and set a data VLAN, we would then set the "Switchport voice vlan" command, but this isn't recognised on the ME3400.

Configuring the port as a 802.1q trunk port dioes not work either.

BAsically, we need to deploy Cisco 7940 IP phones, and use the inbuilt ethernet port to provide a data connection in a seperate VLAN.

Thanks

Darren Smith

Hello Darren,

the QoS options of the ME 3400 are not the same as with other LAN switches. The capabilities can be derived from "Cisco ME 3400 Switch Software Configuration Guide, Rel. 12.2(25)EX" in the section "Configuring QoS"

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6580/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00805133c5.html

Unfortunately there is no "auto qos voip" or voice vlan and so on. So you have to use access-lists for classification and marking and manually setup queueing. Sorry for the bad news.

Hope this helps nevertheless! Please rate all posts.
