My service-provider is not running a true MPLS network, I trunk to him a tagged dot1Q vlan. He operates a metro ethernet systems for data, telephone and TV. He simply has a 1GB Ethernet fiber media converter as a demark. He uses a lot of eXtreme and some Cisco gear. I don't really care, he provides a good stable system.

Am I on the right path here (see pdf attachment)?

Can I essentially create on own tunnel between the 4506 and 3750 and continue to handoff to my service-provider a single vlan trunk?

I have a question in to him about his MTU sla.

QinQ using VMAN = (VLAN 2050) and it is transparent to end users.

It is simply a L2 connection between sites.

Your providers need to configure MTU size on its Cisco 3750G access switches to at least 1546. Enough to recognize and carry your dot1Q vlan traffic.

You then can create your own native VLAN (802.1q)on your Cisco 4506 switches.
