A-VPLS + IRB on cat6500

Greetings.

What are the requirements for A-VPLS with IRB on cat6500?

According to the documentation, it should work on cat6500/sup720 with an appropriate WAN card and SXJ1 software. But I didn't understand - should it work on Sup-2T without the WAN card? If yes - are there any requirements concerning the system's PFC level, should it be strictly PFC4?

Hello Dmitriy,

SUP 2T comes up with PFC4 hence you need to have DFC4 LC's to work with it,

We are supporting the 7600 ES+ cards on the 6500 from the SXJ1 Software from july.

We will not be bringing in support for EVC with ES+ but we will support VPLS, Advanced VPLS, IRB for VPLS and

A-VPLS PW (including vrf support), H-QOS and IPoDWDM.

Yes, Sup2T will support VPLS Natively, meaning VPLS encap is done on the SUP2T for CFC (LAN) Cards and on the Ingress port on DFC cards (LAN), you don't need SIP/ES+ on sup2T, we will also be supporting Advanced

VPLS and IRB for VPLS PW in a follow up release. SUP2T will also support EVC natively.

There is no plan to support ES+/SIP-400 with Sup2T.

Thanks,

Ricky Micky
