We are looking to implement MPLS from Equant very shortly and all I have seen in relation to backup/failover is ISDN. As ADSL is very cheap now (and at a fixed rate) I would prefer to pay this rather than a variable cost such as ISDN.
Is this possible?
thanks

Chris,
To be sure to talk same things. You want to use MPLS/VPN services sold by Equant. In this case, never you will see a label on your customer router. Well, in this case, it's a question concerning backup of your link. And xDSL can be a good choice. Be sure to secure your x DSL backup through a VPN IPSec, for example.
Now, if you use MPLS in your backbone and you want to backup a "MPLS link" through Equant... Mmmmh. question is more complex.

Thanks for your response. It was the first part of your answer I was looking for. I was 99% sure it could be done, but it never hurts to ask.

Hi Chris,
using a DSL line as backup is surely possible. With IPsec you can even hook directly into the MPLS VPN again. I know of at least one provider that offers this feature in its MPLS VPN service.
cheers, Eduard

Hello,
I ahve same issue. I wanted to backup my MPLS network with VPN/IPSec (concentrator 3030).
When MPLS is down, I want that VPN link becomes up automatically (now it's manual, with static route).
Is this possible ?
Thanks for your help.
