Hello,

MP-iBGP is required within the MPLS/VPN architecture because the BGP update needs to carry more information than just an IPv4 addres. As an exemple, in the case of the Multiprotocol Label Switthing (MPLS) L3 VPN's, the update must communicate the VPN IPV4 address, MPLS label information, and extended or standard BGP communities.

The practical use case is with MPLS VPN, I am aware of that.

MPLS a way of label switching. as long as you have your VRFs and its RDs and RTs enables and configured properly you can use mp-bgp without mpls

there is a way that ISP and cisco support it for ISP network that dose not have MPLS enabled in its network which it l2tpv3 tunnels
