Is someone kindly confirming that in general the feature “diverse-path” is not supported on RRs with onboard XR?

in my specific case we are implementing RR on a router server with XRv!

Thanks

Mario

Hi @Mario Rosi ,

This will definitely work with add-path in XR.

Hi @Mario Rosi ,

The diverse-path feature (RFC6774) is not supported in XR. You can most probably achieve the same results using the add-path feature (RFC7911), which is available in XR. The big advantage of add-path over diverse-path is that it doesn't require a shadow router to advertise the second best path. It can also send more paths than just the best and second best paths.

Thanks @Harold Ritter; and add-path will be at this point!

instead for the scenario where I have two Internet PE that are receiving directly (without RR in the middle) via BGP, the default route from 3 different ASBR acting as edge router in peering with 2 external ISPs as well, I’ll use on them the “BGP external” feature; in this way i’l be sure to let Internet PEs to receive the default at the same time from all the edge router and install in FIB for load balancing. Then if the customer will want to prefer one edge router instead of another as the preferred one, by using LP setting it will be free to do that.

Hi @Mario Rosi ,
