That would depend upon your data requirements - VoIP, video, data flows all have to be considered. Once you have that you can add 20% for protocol overheads/mgmt. etc.

HTH.

So if there was no video, but all cisco 7945 ip phones, users will be connecting to email hosted in MAIN datacenter... as well as share drives, applications, etc... we have about 15 virtual servers, SQL backends tied into applications...

will this description below be enough?

DATACENTER -- 10 Mbps

Branch 1 - (big) -- 10 Mbps

Branch 2 - (small) - 1.5 T1

Branch 3 - (small) - 1.5 T1

Does the datacenter need to be more to handle all branches connecting?

This is what we have so far in existing environment:

Branch 1 (gigabit network) - all VMs are currently at this location... -- we have 3 Mbps MPLS

Branch 2 - 1.5 T1

Branch 3 - 1.5 T1

The datacenter is new... so we are moving all VMs to that site... basically branch 1 becomes a branch and not a datacenter and branch any more...   Everyone is used to gigabit switch network... so speed was never issue when opening attachments, opening file from shared network drive etc... because everything was 100 feet away... now it will be 1000 miles away....
