MPLS LDP Targeted-Hello (not needed on P-to-P Te Tunnel) ?

Hi all,

I just set up two P-to-P TE tunnels in an MPLS core (each tunnel routing towards opposite egress PE routers on each side) and noticed that I did not have to use the MPLS LDP Targeted-Hello command on each of the two P-to-P TE tunnel destinations to get the LDP LSP to form end to end (ie tunneling the LDP LSP through the RSVP-TE LSP).

However, in a separate lab, where I had a similar set up (except this time the two TE tunnels are PE-to-P)  I noticed I had to use the MPLS LDP Targeted-Hello on the tunnel destinations of each of the two PE-to-P TE Tunnels....in order to get the LDP LSP to form end to end.  (ie tunneling the LDP LSP through the RSVP-TE LSP).

Does anyone know why this is?

Thanks,

David
