Hi there

I am planning to migrate our whole network from TDP to LDP gradually.

Is there any issues in dhaving TDO & LDP running on same box during migration phase. and when I assume session will be down temprarily while tearning down TDP and setting up LDP.

TIA

Sam

Hi,

there should be no issues related to TDP to LDP migration. Also you can avoid outages by using:

1)

interface Ethernet0

tag-switching label protocol tdp

2)

interface Ethernet0

tag-switching label protocol both

!this will also start LDP. Give it time to "converge"

3)

interface Ethernet0

tag-switching label protocol ldp

As both TDP and LDP operate on the same internal LIB/LFIB there is the smooth migration path sketched above (could be mpls label protocol ... instead). I know of at least one major provider, who followed this path without issues and outages.

Hope this helps! Please rate all posts.

Regards, Martin

Hi Martin

Great answer !

I did not know u can use both on same interface. This will definitely allow me to migrate in business hours.

Best regards

Sam

Hi martin,

first of all sorry to reopen an old case

But This is not correct I have tested the same and everytime you give command (any of below) the tdp adjancency first tear down and then it tries to

perform new adjacency.

mpls label protocol tdp

mpls label protocol ldp

mpls label protocol both

I have also checked lables generated by the two PE which going to widrawn for 2-3 seconds.

Please correct me if i have misunderstood

Mahesh
