Customers that have SAS contracts are entitled to minor upgrades. For example, a customer with a SAS contract that is running Cisco Secure ACS Version 4.0 would be entitled to upgrade to Versions 4.1 and 4.2.
Customers that do not have SAS contracts can purchase minor upgrades. Part numbers for minor upgrades are identified by the "MR" designation.
Cisco Secure ACS 4.0 and 4.1 customers with Cisco Software Application Support (SAS) can go to the product upgrade tool at http://www.cisco.com/upgrade and request the service release kit for Cisco Secure ACS 4.2 for Windows.
Cisco Secure ACS 4.0 and 4.1 customers without SAS should order part number CSACS4.2-WIN-MR-K9.
Customers with earlier versions of Cisco Secure ACS for Windows should order part number CSACS-4.2-WINUP-K9.
For example, customers running Cisco Secure ACS Version 3.3 for Windows that want to upgrade to ACS Version 4.2 must purchase the upgrade part number CSACS-4.2-WINUP-K9.
New customers should order product number CSACS-4.2-WIN-K9.
For the upgrade procedure:
You can upgrade from ACS 4.1.1.23, 4.1.1.24, 4.1.2, 4.1.3 or 4.1.4 to ACS 4.2 on Windows. You will need to backup the ACS 4.1 configuration and then upgrade to ACS 4.2.

Hi Angus,
Going from ACS v4.1 to v4.2 is considered as a minor upgrade. So as per the earlier documentation links, if you don't have a SAS contract you can order the part CSACS4.2-WIN-MR-K.Also this part contents will probably include the required CDs for ACS reimage, should your ACS software be corrupted and you will not need to go back to v4.1.
The document links from my earlier post will provide you the required steps for upgrade from v4.1 to v4.2.
Alternatively should you have any issues with obtaining the software or config corruption, you can open a TAC case.
CSACS-4.2-WIN-K9 is for new customers who dont have earlier releases in setup.Besides, you will probably pay alot more for this part number.
HTH,
Regards,
Alex
