blank username at exec prompt drops connection

I have a 3754 running AAA @ IOS 12.3.9. Whenever a user telnets or dials in and enters a blank username (by simply hitting a return/enter one too many times by habit), the connection is immediately dropped. This was not the behavior in earlier versions of the IOS. Previously, the user would be prompted again. How can I obtain this same behaivor with this version of the IOS?

Hello,

Not aware of any such behavior chnages on the code. For further investigation, it would be better if you open up a case with TAC so that an engineer can follow up with the developer.
