I am attempting to set up 802.1x authentication on our Cisco 7942 phones and I am not really too familiar with the settings. We have several small sites that use Aruba RAP devices that are centrally managed by an Aruba controller. The authentication server we are using is Clearpass. Right now our phones are connecting to the RAP via a MAC address database on the controller which is not ideal. We would like to get off of the MAC database and on to the 802.1x. There are a couple problems I am trying to figure out here:
1) The 7942 requires a shared secret EAP-MD5 password and we have about 1200 phones. I could not find a way to bulk import this unless I am missing it.
2) Clearpass offers a couple authentication methods that we are willing to accept which is AD or local Clearpass user database. I don't know specifically which user settings on the 7942 phone I need to set up and if I did, I would really like to know how to administrate them (preferably by bulk) through Cisco Call manager (version 9.1.2).
