How to compress the /opt partition in ACS 5.3

The /opt or /runtime partition is 91% utilized. I was able to delete the ACS View Database logs by Purging, Is there a way by which I can compress /opt partition so that I can take the backup of the acs view-database logs. Or is there any other way on how can I take the backup of the acs view_database_logs

You may already know this, but if /opt reaches 99% your ACS is going to stop, and rather tragically.

You may need to get a TAC case opened to get the Root Patch (along with instructions on how to use), in order to delete the current ACSView DB and start over again.  Once you have done that, you will be able to configure regular back-up for the ACSView DB, which in term will trigger routine pruning of the ACSView DB.  It will also have a fail-safe mode where it will radically prune the DB to save you from a volume overrun.

This is accessible via Monitoring Configuration > System Operations > Data Management > Removal and Backup. The database that contains the ACS AAA logs is known as the “View Database”.

Three options exist:

• Data Purging

  This setting allows you to delete data from the view database. The value to select from the drop-down box is number of months of data you would like to keep in the Monitoring and Report View database.

• View Full Database Backup Now

  This allows you to run an immediate backup.

• Scheduled View Database backup

  This allows you to schedule the time and date of incremental view-database backups and/or full view-database backups.

The OP's issue was that his /opt partition is at 91%.  I know from personal experience that the only way back from that point is to delete the ACSViewDB and start again.  A part of that starting again will be adjusting the settings you have called out.  It is not possible, however, to simply try and turn that on when /opt is very full, as the OP's was.
