Hi Team,
Please note that i am deploying 2 (Physical Appliances) ISE node as failover distributed deployment. and I want to activate Essential license. do i need to purchase licenses for both nodes, or just it is required for the primary node only?
Thanks,

Physical appliances do not require licenses for the appliance itself. (VM-based deployments require a VM license per VM.)
Your Essentials licenses are for the whole deployment, no matter how many nodes.
Each node (physical or VM) running the Device Admin persona must have its own Device Admin license. So, in your case, you need two of those licenses.

Could someone please help confirm if we require only 2 Device node admin licenses (1 each) for 2 ISE node deployment in air-gapped network using SLR mode of licensing on physical ISE appliances OR does it require to be 3 Device node admin licenses (2 for primary and 1 for secondary)?

A separate Device admin license is required for each appliance with the device admin role enabled.
