restoration from physical to VM ( license )

hey all,

is it possible to restore a backup taken from a physical appliance to a VM?

if so, what about the license? i cannot import the old license since its for an appliance

am ending up with this:

1. Invalid license file, UDI mismatch: Platform UDI: "ISE-VM-K9:V01:LHKA9LA", Primary UDI: "ISE-3395-K9:v01:XXXxxxx"

my WM is a fresh install ( 90 days trial ) but the restore changed hat

Any idea?

If you are actually moving your ise solution, you are allowed to go to cisco.com/go/license and re-host your ise licenses to a new platform/serial.

the goal of the exercise is to replicate client config ( with backup ) in lab ( VM )then proceed to upgrade 1.1 to 1.4

hopefully, the VM vs Appliance wont show much difference in the problems i could encounter when am ready to actually upgrade client's appliances
